EA College Football 25 and it’s Unique Impact on Sports

After an 11-year hiatus, EA NCAAF 25 is set to make a significant impact upon its release.

NIL Impact

The absence of a college football game stemmed primarily from financial reasons. With the introduction of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights allowing players to profit.

Electronic Arts is compensating players with at least $600 each, while more prominent players are securing additional earnings as brand ambassadors.

Schools are also benefiting based on their performance, receiving between just under $9,000 to nearly $100,000 depending on their tier ranking from 2014-2023 seasons.

Fan Impact

Middle-aged college football fans, eager to relive the thrill of past victories and create new gaming memories, are anticipating the release of EA NCAAF 25. However, this version will only be available on the latest consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S).

Despite this, the game is expected to rejuvenate interest in video gaming. EA forecasts that combined sales with Madden 25 could exceed $1 billion.

Wagering Impact

The evolving landscape of sports betting over the past 12 years is intriguing. Thirty-eight states now permit sports betting, with mobile betting available in 30 of them. The simulation capabilities of EA NCAAF 25 raise questions about the impact on betting behavior.

Will bettors use game simulations to inform their wagers on actual outcomes? Observing any potential increase in wagers placed during the NCAA football season will be fascinating.
